
SOUTH CAROLINA — Two people were taken to the hospital after a crash caused a gas leak Monday morning along North Kings Highway in Horry County, according to Horry County Fire Rescue.
Officials said the two-vehicle crash happened in the 9700 block of North Kings Highway.
Emergency crews said a commercial building was struck in the crash, damaging utility equipment and causing an active gas leak.
All lanes of traffic on North Kings Highway were blocked for an extended period while crews worked at the scene.
Dominion Energy spokesperson Paul Fischer said the gas line was secured just before 8 a.m.
Horry County Fire Rescue said the two people taken to the hospital were being evaluated for possible injuries.
Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene around 5:20 a.m.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
