ILLINOIS — A 20-year-old man was arrested on a drunken driving charge after a three-vehicle crash that left two people with serious injuries Friday night in DeKalb County.
According to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 10:30 p.m. to Cherry Valley Road north of Stone Quarry Road in Kirkland for a reported three-vehicle crash.
Investigators said Issac Muhasha, 20, of Moline, was driving an SUV northbound on Cherry Valley Road when he crossed the center line and collided head-on with a BMW SUV.
The impact caused the BMW to spin and strike a Chevrolet Trailblazer that was also traveling north behind Muhasha’s vehicle.
Authorities said airbags deployed in all three vehicles.
The driver and passenger of the BMW were transported to OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford with serious injuries.
Following an investigation, deputies arrested Muhasha and charged him with driving under the influence of alcohol. He was taken to the DeKalb County Jail and later released, according to the sheriff’s office.
The crash remains under investigation.
