TENNESSEE — A serious early-morning crash involving multiple vehicles shut down part of Interstate 65 in South Nashville Tuesday, sending two people to the hospital.

According to authorities, the crash occurred just after midnight on I-65 North near the Armory Drive exit ramp.

Officials said at least two people suffered serious injuries and were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in critical condition. Police later reported both individuals were in stable condition.

The crash caused significant traffic disruptions, with all northbound lanes of I-65 closed for several hours due to debris scattered across the roadway and an ongoing investigation.

Drivers heading into Nashville were diverted off the interstate at Armory Drive until the roadway reopened.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
