OHIO — Two children were injured, one with life-threatening injuries, after an ATV collided with an SUV Saturday afternoon in Erie County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at approximately 1:45 p.m. on State Route 113 in Milan Township.

Investigators said a 13-year-old was operating an ATV with a 10-year-old passenger when the vehicle entered State Route 113 from a private driveway and was struck by an eastbound SUV.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the ATV caught fire following the collision. The SUV then traveled off the roadway, overturned, and struck a utility pole.

Both children were transported to Fisher-Titus Medical Center. Authorities said the 10-year-old was later airlifted to UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
