VIRGINIA — Two Fredericksburg residents were killed and another person was injured following a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 in Caroline County, according to Virginia State Police.

The crash occurred around 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 30, on Interstate 95 South near mile marker 115, close to the Ladysmith Road exit.

A preliminary investigation found that a 2009 GMC Yukon driven by 59-year-old Delores Virginia Parker of Fredericksburg traveled onto the left shoulder before entering the median and crossing back into the northbound lanes.

Police said the Yukon then collided with a 2017 Jeep Wrangler driven by 59-year-old Shelly Sutton Owens, also of Fredericksburg. The impact caused the Jeep to overturn.

A third vehicle, a 2025 Jeep Wrangler, was also involved in the crash and came to rest in the center lane. The driver of that vehicle was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries.

Virginia State Police said Parker and Owens died from injuries sustained in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.

The incident follows an earlier report from authorities indicating that at least one person had died and two others had been hospitalized as a result of the multi-vehicle crash.
