
TENNESSEE — Two people were killed in a head-on crash on Interstate 40 in Smith County late Sunday night, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 11:30 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-40 near mile marker 258.
THP said 21-year-old Chase Pulley, of California, was driving a 2015 Honda CRV westbound in the eastbound lanes when the vehicle collided head-on with a 2024 Nissan Sentra traveling east.
Pulley and the driver of the Nissan, 20-year-old Breanna Sullivan, were both pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash shut down the roadway through the morning hours as authorities investigated and cleared the scene. The interstate has since reopened to traffic.
No additional information about the crash was immediately released. The investigation remains ongoing.
