MARYLAND — Two drivers were killed early Saturday morning in a head-on crash caused by a wrong-way driver on Interstate 270, according to Montgomery County Police.

The collision occurred just before 3 a.m. when 25-year-old Ashley Salazar of Clarksburg was driving south in the northbound lanes of I-270 for unknown reasons.

Her Chevy Cruze collided head-on with a Honda Accord driven by 33-year-old Jeremy De La Torre of Frederick.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.

The northbound lanes of I-270 were closed for several hours overnight as police investigated. The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration assisted with the road closure.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
