LOUISIANA — Two people were killed in a head-on crash Monday morning in Claiborne Parish, according to Louisiana State Police.
Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop G responded around 10:25 a.m. May 11 to a two-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 2 near Arizona Road.
Investigators said a 2014 BMW 528i driven by 48-year-old Donyull White of Shreveport was traveling west on the highway while a 2014 Honda Accord driven by 72-year-old Shirley Mitchell of Homer was traveling eastbound.
According to the preliminary investigation, the BMW crossed the centerline for reasons still under investigation and collided head-on with the Honda.
State police said White was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Mitchell, who also was not restrained, suffered severe injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where she later died.
Authorities said impairment is not suspected, though standard toxicology samples were collected for analysis.
The crash remains under investigation.
