GEORGIA — Two people were killed in a three-vehicle crash Sunday night near the intersection of Ogeechee Road and Cottonvale Road, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

Troopers said the crash occurred around 7:05 p.m. when a white Honda Civic was traveling south on Ogeechee Road. According to investigators, the Honda lost control, crossed into the northbound lanes and was struck head-on by a red Volkswagen Tiguan SUV.

The front-seat passenger of the Honda was ejected from the vehicle and came to rest in the roadway, authorities said.

A blue Nissan Altima traveling north on Ogeechee Road then struck the passenger side of the Honda, causing the Honda to leave the roadway and go into a nearby ditch.

Georgia State Patrol and Chatham County police responded to the scene, along with several ambulances and fire trucks.

Ogeechee Road northbound was shut down for several hours while crews investigated and cleared the crash scene.

The Georgia State Patrol continues to investigate the fatal crash.
