
MINNESOTA — Two people are dead after a small plane crashed into a park near Crystal Airport on Saturday, according to authorities.
Brooklyn Park police said the crash occurred near Southbrook Park, close to 62nd Avenue North and Florida Avenue North. The aircraft reportedly went down and caught fire after the crash.
First responders arrived to find the plane engulfed in flames. The fire was later extinguished, officials said.
Authorities confirmed that the occupants inside the aircraft died in the crash. No injuries were reported on the ground.
According to the National Transportation Safety Board, the aircraft involved was a Beech F33A. Preliminary information indicates the plane took off around 11:30 a.m. and was heading north before disappearing from radar shortly after departure.
Officials have not said how many people were on board at the time of the crash, and the cause remains under investigation.
The incident remains an active investigation.
