SOUTH CAROLINA — Two people were arrested Monday afternoon after North Charleston police allegedly discovered methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia inside an illegally parked SUV near Dorchester Road.
According to the North Charleston Police Department, officers were conducting proactive patrols in an area known for narcotics activity and violent crime when they spotted the vehicle.
Police said officers recognized both the SUV and its driver, 47-year-old Shaun Jeremiah O’Shea of North Charleston, from suspected narcotics-related activity. Officers later approached the vehicle after O’Shea and a passenger, identified as 26-year-old Sonni Nicole Hogg of Moncks Corner, returned to the area.
Authorities said a K-9 unit conducted a free-air sniff around the SUV but did not alert to the presence of narcotics.
However, during an inventory search conducted before the vehicle was towed, officers said they found approximately 28.2 grams of a substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine, along with smaller bags of suspected methamphetamine, needles and a meth pipe.
O’Shea and Hogg were both arrested and charged with trafficking methamphetamine. They were booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center.
Police said warrants are also being sought for two additional men believed to be connected to the investigation.
