KENTUCKY — A routine traffic stop in Boyd County led to the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of more than $6,500 worth of illegal drugs, according to the Boyd County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies stopped a vehicle late Monday night around 10:50 p.m. in the 3800 block of 13th Street in Ashland. During the stop, a passenger fled the scene on foot.

After a short chase, deputies apprehended the man, identified as 38-year-old Lajuan Wilkerson of Ashland.

Authorities say Wilkerson was carrying drugs at the time of his arrest and had several outstanding warrants.

A search of the vehicle uncovered methamphetamine, fentanyl, cocaine, and crack cocaine. The estimated street value of the drugs totaled more than $6,500.

Both Wilkerson and the driver, 46-year-old Amber Clark of Bartlett, Illinois, were taken into custody and are facing drug trafficking charges. They are being held at the Boyd County Detention Center.
