GEORGIA — Two people were arrested following an armed robbery at a Glynn County motel that investigators say was connected to an online dating meetup.

According to the Glynn County Police Department, officers were called Wednesday to the Royal Inn on New Jesup Highway after receiving a report of an armed robbery.

When officers arrived, they spoke with the victim, who was not injured. Investigators said the victim had gone to the motel to meet a woman he had been communicating with online. During the meeting, a masked suspect allegedly pulled a gun and robbed the victim inside the room.

Police quickly identified a motel room believed to be connected to the incident and detained several individuals. All involved were taken to the Glynn County Police Department for questioning.

During a search of the room, detectives said they recovered a Glock .45-caliber handgun, a Micro Conversion Kit firearm conversion device, a black face mask and multiple suspected drugs. Authorities reported finding approximately 122 pills that field-tested positive for MDMA, along with four pills identified as oxycodone and eight pills identified as alprazolam. About $300 in cash was also seized.

Antonio Miguel Manning-Turner was charged with armed robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of certain crimes, possession of MDMA with intent to distribute, and possession of oxycodone and alprazolam.

Zhonae Jakaree Bryonne Scott was charged with armed robbery as a party to a crime.

Both suspects were taken to the Glynn County Detention Center.

Police said the investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Glynn County Police Department’s non-emergency line or submit an anonymous tip through Silent Witness.
