
NORTH CAROLINA — More than 4,000 customers across North Carolina are without electricity as of Tuesday morning, according to outage data from PowerOutage.us.
The outage tracking website reported 4,015 homes and businesses without power statewide out of more than 5.5 million customers being monitored. North Carolina currently ranks sixth in the nation for the total number of outages and 11th for the percentage of customers affected.
Jackson County reported the highest number of outages with 1,338 customers without power. Rowan County followed with 495 outages, while Rockingham County reported 456 customers affected. Other counties with significant outages included McDowell County with 391 outages and Robeson County with 217.
Among utility providers, Duke Energy reported the largest number of outages with 2,258 customers without service. Haywood EMC reported 1,406 outages, while Blue Ridge Mountain EMC reported 113 customers without electricity.
PowerOutage.us said Haywood EMC had the highest percentage of customers affected statewide, with about 4.8% of its customers without power Tuesday morning.
Utility crews continue working to restore service across the state.
