
INDIANA — More than 8,000 homes and businesses across Indiana are currently without electricity Tuesday morning, according to PowerOutage.us.
As of the latest update, 8,133 customers are without power statewide out of more than 3.28 million customers tracked. Indiana currently ranks third in the nation for both the total number of outages and the percentage of customers affected.
Lake County has the largest concentration of outages, with 5,786 customers currently without electricity. Porter County reports 958 outages, followed by Allen County with 737, LaPorte County with 178, and Kosciusko County with 123.
Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO) reports the highest number of customers affected among utilities, with 6,956 outages. Indiana Michigan Power has 830 customers without service, while Kosciusko REMC reports 119 outages. AES Indiana has 81 customers without power, and Hendricks Power Cooperative reports 57 outages.
Lake County is also experiencing the highest outage percentage in the state, with 3.79% of tracked customers affected. NIPSCO reports the highest utility outage rate, with 1.49% of its customers currently without service.
Utility crews continue working to restore power, though restoration times vary by location. Residents are encouraged to report outages directly to their utility provider and use caution around downed power lines.
