
OHIO — A suspect fleeing from Toledo police Friday morning suffered a severe foot injury after being struck by a train in central Toledo, according to authorities.
Police said the incident began shortly before 9:45 a.m. as officers attempted to pursue the suspect in connection with a suspected aggravated burglary. Officials noted that weapons were believed to be involved, though no additional details about them were immediately released.
The suspect initially fled in a vehicle, leading police on a brief pursuit before abandoning the vehicle and continuing on foot. Authorities said the chase moved toward railroad tracks near Nesselwood and Lawrence avenues.
During the foot pursuit, the suspect was injured by a train. Police said it remains unclear whether the train was moving at the time of the incident.
The individual sustained what police described as a “severe” injury to the foot. The exact extent of the injury has not yet been confirmed, but officials indicated it was significant.
The suspect was transported to a hospital for treatment. No additional information about the suspect’s condition or identity has been released.
