FLORIDA — A 14-year-old student in Flagler County has been arrested after deputies say he made threats to carry out a school shooting through social media.
According to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, the student—who attends Flagler Palm Coast High School—is facing a felony charge after allegedly sending threatening messages in a Snapchat group chat.
Investigators say the messages warned other students not to attend school and included statements such as “Everybody would get shot,” before later claiming the threats were a joke.
Authorities said the sheriff’s office launched an investigation after learning about the messages and ultimately took the teen into custody.
The suspect has been charged with making a written threat to kill.
Officials also said a photo of the messages was shared by investigators as part of the case. The investigation remains ongoing.
