FLORIDA — An overturned semi-truck caused major traffic delays on Interstate 95 near Yamato Road in Boca Raton early Monday morning during the Memorial Day travel rush, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened near mile marker 48 and impacted both northbound and southbound lanes of I-95.
Traffic cameras showed the semi overturned on its side across portions of the highway as emergency crews worked at the scene overnight.
Florida 511 reported multiple lane closures in both directions during the early morning hours. Authorities said northbound lanes near Yamato Road had fully reopened by about 6:50 a.m., but all southbound lanes remained shut down near Exit 44 as crews continued clearing the crash.
Officials said tow trucks and FDOT severe incident response crews were working to remove the overturned truck from the roadway.
By around 4:40 a.m., some southbound lanes had reopened, though traffic remained reduced to two lanes. Northbound lanes were fully reopened.
Authorities have not released information about how many people were injured or what caused the crash.
Drivers were urged to expect delays and use caution in the Boca Raton area as the investigation continues.
