OHIO — Police are searching for a suspect after an armored money truck was robbed at a shopping center in Deerfield Township Friday afternoon.
Authorities said the robbery happened around 5 p.m. near Kings Auto Mall off Fields Ertel Road. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a Brink’s truck was targeted outside a Ross Dress for Less store.
Investigators said the suspect approached the driver armed with a shotgun and assaulted him. The suspect then took control of the truck and drove it a short distance before abandoning it and fleeing on foot.
The driver was injured and taken to a hospital. His condition has not been released.
Police said the Brink’s truck has since been recovered, but it is unclear what, if anything, was taken during the robbery.
Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to the scene, and officers began clearing the area around 6:45 p.m. The suspect remains at large, and no description has been released.
