FLORIDA — Several burglary suspects escaped after a police pursuit that began in Miami-Dade County and ended with a crash in Broward County early Sunday morning, according to police.
The incident began around 2 a.m. when a Pinecrest police officer spotted a suspicious gray BMW parked on the wrong side of Southwest 66 Avenue, the Pinecrest Police Department said.
Police said several burglary suspects wearing ski masks and black clothing ran from the yard of a home and got into the BMW. Investigators said the driver then crashed into the officer’s patrol car before speeding away.
Authorities said officers pursued the BMW northbound on State Road 826 until a Pinecrest police supervisor ended the chase near Sunset Drive.
According to police, the driver continued north into Broward County before crashing the BMW in Hollywood. One suspect was arrested following the crash, while the remaining suspects got away.
Detectives are asking anyone with information about the case or related incidents to contact Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
