FRANKLIN COUNTY — Authorities in Ohio have identified a man whose body was found inside an abandoned car wash in Franklin County.
The Franklin County Coroner’s Office confirmed that fingerprints identified the man as 53-year-old Christopher M. Coleman.
Coleman’s remains were discovered on Wednesday night at the former Super Wash, located in the 1500 block of Holt Road in the Georgesville Square Shopping Plaza.
Police reported that his body was “badly decomposed” and found in one of the car wash bays. The property has been abandoned for several years and is surrounded by a chain-link fence.
Coleman, who was described as homeless, had a history of legal issues.
He was alive as recently as one month ago, when he was charged with disorderly conduct in Franklin County Municipal Court. His fingerprints, taken on Sept. 11 following his arrest, were used to confirm his identity.
Coleman had faced nearly 25 charges in municipal court over the years, including a 2016 robbery at a Huntington Bank in west Columbus.
An autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of death, and the investigation is ongoing.
