NORTH CAROLINA — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police and the FBI conducted what officials described as “federal court authorized law enforcement activity” at a north Charlotte hotel Wednesday morning.
According to CMPD, the operation took place at a hotel on Reagan Drive near Sugar Creek Road and Interstate 85 shortly after 8:30 a.m. FBI agents were involved in the operation alongside local police.
Authorities have released few details about the investigation. Officials have not said what prompted the federal court authorization, whether any arrests were made, or the nature of the investigation. The name of the hotel has also not been released.
Reagan Drive is located just off Interstate 85 in north Charlotte, providing easy access to major transportation routes in the area.
Law enforcement operations involving federal court authorization are often tied to investigations involving serious criminal matters under federal jurisdiction, though officials have not confirmed the focus of Wednesday’s activity.
CMPD said additional information could be released as the investigation continues.
