
MISSOURI — A pre-dawn crash on a major highway in Johnson County has caused significant traffic delays during Wednesday morning’s commute.
According to authorities, the crash occurred on westbound Interstate 435 near the Overland Park/U.S. 69 interchange shortly before 3 a.m. The incident forced the closure of the highway as emergency crews responded.
Officials with the Overland Park Police Department said the crash involved serious injuries. Drivers are urged to seek alternate routes while crews work at the scene.
Traffic is being diverted using the ramp to Quivira Road, but backups quickly extend beyond Antioch Road, with congestion also reported near Metcalf Avenue.
