Part of I-40 in Tennessee shut down following multi-vehicle crash

TENNESSEE — A multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 40 West is causing major traffic delays through Mt. Juliet on Monday morning, with several lanes blocked and injuries reported.

According to the Mt. Juliet Police Department, the crash occurred on Interstate 40 West near mile marker 225, just east of the Central Pike overpass.

Police said the crash involved multiple vehicles, and three westbound lanes are currently blocked. Injuries have been reported, though officials have not released information on the number of people hurt or the severity of those injuries.

The crash has created significant traffic backups, with westbound congestion stretching well past Golden Bear Gateway. Motorists traveling toward Nashville are being urged to seek alternate routes or prepare for lengthy delays while emergency crews work at the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
