INDIANA — One person is in critical condition following a crash on Lafayette Street Tuesday morning, according to the Fort Wayne Police Department.
The crash happened around 8 a.m. at the intersection of Lafayette Street and Sherwood Terrace on the city’s south side.
Police said the collision resulted in the closure of the northbound lanes of Lafayette Street as well as both directions of Sherwood Terrace while emergency crews responded to the scene and investigated the crash.
According to FWPD, one person was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Authorities have not released the person’s identity or provided additional details about the circumstances leading up to the crash.
Motorists were urged to avoid the area as crews worked at the scene.
The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
