MARYLAND — A man was hospitalized early Thursday morning after a stabbing in a Laurel hotel parking lot that investigators believe was a targeted attack, according to Anne Arundel County police.
Police said officers responded around 3:50 a.m. May 7 to the 3300 block of Laurel Fort Meade Road for a reported stabbing.
When officers arrived, they found an adult male victim who told investigators he had been in a nearby hotel parking lot with two other people when the assault happened.
According to police, the victim was standing outside his vehicle in the Garden Inn parking lot in the 3400 block of Laurel Fort Meade Road when three masked men approached him.
Investigators said a physical altercation followed, and one of the suspects stabbed the victim in the torso.
As the confrontation continued, the two other people inside the vehicle attempted to drive away. Police said one of the suspects threw a rock through the driver’s side window, shattering the glass and striking the driver in the arm.
Authorities said the stabbing victim was able to gain control of the knife before the suspects fled the scene.
Police also learned that before the attack, one of the suspects allegedly punctured the tires of an unoccupied vehicle belonging to a hotel guest in the same area.
The victim was taken to a nearby trauma center and was reported to be in stable condition.
Investigators said the incident does not appear to have been random.
Western District detectives are continuing to investigate. Anyone with information is asked to contact Anne Arundel County police at 410-222-8760 or the department’s tip line at 410-222-4700.
