LOUISIANA — A 17-year-old was injured in a shooting Saturday evening in the Ashton community, according to the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said the incident happened around 5 p.m. on Gibbs Road. When they arrived, they found a teenage male who had been struck by gunfire. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment, and his injuries were described as non-life-threatening.
Investigators believe a dark-colored SUV may have been involved in the shooting and are actively searching for the vehicle and its driver.
Authorities are asking residents in the Gibbs Road and Ashton area to review any surveillance footage from Saturday afternoon that could assist in the investigation.
