TENNESSEE — One person was shot and another person was injured in a crash on Interstate 240 near Lamar Avenue on Sunday afternoon, according to the Memphis Police Department.
Officers responded to reports of a shooting in the area of I-240 and Lamar around 4:51 p.m.
When officers arrived, they found a vehicle that had been involved in a crash, police said.
According to investigators, one person suffered injuries from the shooting and was transported to a hospital in non-critical condition.
Police said a second person sustained minor injuries in the crash and was also taken to a hospital. That individual’s injuries were reported as non-critical.
Authorities have not released information about what led to the shooting, the identities of those involved or whether any suspects have been identified.
The Memphis Police Department continues to investigate the incident.
Motorists experienced delays in the area as officers worked at the scene Sunday evening.
