
PENNSYLVANIA — A person was killed in a single-vehicle crash early Saturday on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Westmoreland County.
According to the Westmoreland County Coroner’s Office, officials were called to the scene of the fatal crash along the eastbound lanes of Interstate 76.
The crash happened just before 2:30 a.m. near the Route 136 overpass in Hempfield Township. The Greensburg Police Department said it received a report of the crash, and a Pennsylvania Turnpike spokesperson confirmed it involved only one vehicle.
Emergency crews remained at the scene for several hours while authorities investigated. Greensburg police said the roadway was cleared just before 7 a.m.
No additional information, including the identity of the victim or the cause of the crash, has been released. The incident remains under investigation.
