OHIO — An overnight crash on Interstate 90 left one person dead after a Corvette split in two early Tuesday morning.
The crash occurred around 2 a.m. in the westbound lanes near West 117th Street, according to authorities. First responders said the driver of the Corvette was speeding when they lost control, causing the vehicle to crash and break apart.
Officials said the driver was ejected from the vehicle. The front portion of the car landed in a grassy embankment, while the rear section came to rest in a lane of traffic on the highway.
When the Cleveland Division of Fire arrived, the vehicle was on fire, authorities said.
While crews were on scene investigating, another vehicle struck a fire truck that was blocking traffic. Fire officials said that driver was not seriously injured but was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
The interstate reopened just after 4:30 a.m. following the investigation.
The crash remains under investigation.
