OHIO — A woman was killed and two other people were injured in an early morning crash Friday on Interstate 75 near Perrysburg, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The crash happened before 4:30 a.m. on northbound I-75 beyond State Route 582, also known as Middleton Pike.
Investigators said a woman driving a white minivan attempted to merge into traffic and struck a box truck. Troopers said nearby construction in the area is believed to have obscured the driver’s view.
The woman was taken to a nearby hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
Authorities said two passengers in the minivan — a man and a small child — were also injured. Officials said neither passenger was wearing a seatbelt and both appeared to have been lying down in the back of the vehicle at the time of the crash. Their injuries were described as non-life-threatening.
The driver of the box truck was not injured.
All northbound lanes were shut down for about 90 minutes while crews cleared the scene. The roadway reopened around 7:15 a.m.
The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
