INDIANA — One person is dead and three others were injured in a crash Saturday night on Interstate 69 near Martinsville, according to Indiana State Police.

Troopers said they responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash on southbound I-69 around 9:30 p.m. April 25.

Investigators said a 2003 Buick LeSabre was stopped in the roadway near the median, not on the emergency shoulder, when it was struck by a 2026 Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck driven by a 26-year-old woman from Morgantown.

Police said four people were outside the Buick at the time of the crash, while one passenger remained inside the vehicle when it was hit.

Three people were injured and flown by medical helicopter to IU Health Methodist and Ascension St. Vincent hospitals. One of the injured, identified as 20-year-old Darius Williams, later died from his injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck was taken to IU Health Bloomington Hospital by ambulance.

Both directions of I-69 were closed for several hours while crews investigated the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by Indiana State Police.
