TEXAS — One person was killed and another injured in a single-vehicle crash early Saturday that shut down part of Interstate 35 in Austin, according to police.
Austin police said officers responded around 4:06 a.m. to the 7200 block of North I-35 northbound near the U.S. 183 on-ramp.
Investigators said one vehicle carrying two people crashed near the ramp, reducing the interstate to one lane and forcing the closure of the northbound on-ramp to U.S. 183.
Both occupants were taken to a hospital, where one person later died, police said.
Authorities had not released the identities of those involved as of Saturday morning.
Officials said the closures remained in effect for several hours while crews investigated the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
