
GEORGIA — One person was killed in a fiery crash early Saturday on Interstate 285 in DeKalb County, according to police.
The crash happened shortly before 5 a.m. on I-285 southbound near the Memorial Drive exit.
When officers arrived, they found a vehicle in the woods off the roadway.
Police said a passenger had already escaped the vehicle and did not suffer major injuries. As officers attempted to rescue the driver, the vehicle became engulfed in flames.
Firefighters extinguished the fire, and the driver was later found dead inside the vehicle, authorities said.
The identity of the victim has not been released.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
