OHIO — A 70-year-old Howland man was killed in a head-on crash Monday night in Trumbull County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Troopers responded shortly after 10 p.m. to Warren Sharon Road near Roy Road in Vienna Township.
Investigators said Robert Pearce was traveling west on Warren Sharon Road when he struck several mailboxes before crossing into oncoming traffic and colliding head-on with another vehicle.
Authorities said both vehicles went off the roadway following the crash.
Pearce was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown, where he later died from his injuries.
The other driver was also taken to the hospital and underwent emergency surgery. Troopers said that driver remains in stable condition.
According to OSHP, neither driver was wearing a seatbelt. Alcohol and drugs are not believed to have been factors in the crash.
The investigation remains ongoing.
