NORTH CAROLINA — A man was killed and a woman was critically injured in a rollover crash early Wednesday morning in Harnett County, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash happened along Oak Grove Church Road near Owens Road in the Angier area.
Investigators said a vehicle traveling north crossed the center line, veered off the left side of the roadway and struck a mailbox. Authorities said the driver then overcorrected, causing the vehicle to overturn several times.
A man died as a result of the crash, officials said. A woman was taken to a hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries.
State troopers said investigators are still working to determine which of the two occupants was driving at the time of the crash.
Authorities said both occupants, who are believed to be in their 40s, were not wearing seatbelts.
The identity of the man who died has not yet been released pending notification of family members.
