ILLINOIS — A 29-year-old Decatur man died Saturday after crashing into a parked semi-trailer, according to the Decatur Police Department.
Officers responded just before 11:30 a.m. to the area of East Locust and North Illinois streets for a reported single-vehicle crash.
Police said the man was driving in reverse on Locust Street when he ran a stop sign at the intersection. Investigators said the vehicle then left the roadway on the north side of the 1000 block of East Locust Street, drove through a fence and crashed into a parked, detached semi-trailer.
The driver was taken to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Authorities said there was no indication the driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Members of the Decatur Police Department’s fatal accident investigation team are continuing to investigate the crash.
