ILLINOIS — One person is dead following a two-vehicle crash in Springfield on Monday afternoon, according to police.
Springfield Police responded to the crash at the intersection of North 9th Street and East Carpenter Street at approximately 2:24 p.m.
Authorities said the collision involved two vehicles and resulted in one fatality. No additional information about the victim or the circumstances surrounding the crash has been released.
The intersection was closed as officers investigated the scene and emergency crews responded.
Police said the crash remains under investigation.
