NORTH CAROLINA — Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting in Rutherford County that left one person dead early Thursday morning.
According to the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a reported shooting on Main Street in Henrietta around 1:45 a.m.
When deputies arrived, they found one victim dead at the scene.
Investigators said a suspect is in custody and there is believed to be no ongoing threat to the public. Officials have not released the identity or gender of the victim.
The sheriff’s office said the shooting marks the second fatal shooting reported in Rutherford County within the past eight days.
The investigation remains active, and additional details are expected to be released later.
