VIRGINIA — One person was killed and another seriously injured in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 64 in Hampton Saturday night, according to Virginia State Police.
The crash occurred around 10:30 p.m. in the eastbound lanes near Hampton Roads Center Parkway.
Investigators said a Chevrolet pickup truck was changing lanes when it struck a Chevrolet SUV, causing the SUV to hit a jersey wall. The SUV was then struck by a Toyota Camry, and all three vehicles came to a stop in the roadway.
Authorities said the driver of the Camry exited the vehicle and was subsequently struck, along with the car, by a white Infiniti. The Infiniti then collided with a white Jeep SUV.
The Camry driver, identified as 20-year-old Freddy A. Villaman of Lake Worth, Florida, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Chevrolet SUV, a 34-year-old, was seriously injured and transported to a hospital. Police said the driver was wearing a seatbelt.
State police charged the driver of the pickup, 23-year-old Trinity Hall of Lanexa, with making an unsafe lane change. The driver of the Infiniti, 39-year-old Dehn Baker of Hampton, was charged with reckless driving.
The driver of the Jeep was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
