TENNESSEE — A 31-year-old motorcyclist died Thursday night following a collision at the intersection of Trinity Lane and Scruggs Lane in North Nashville, authorities said.
The Metro Nashville Police Department reported the crash occurred around 9 p.m. Elliot Carter, the motorcyclist, was taken to TriStar Skyline Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Preliminary investigations indicate a Mazda MZ3 sedan was traveling eastbound on Trinity Lane and turning into a parking lot when it was struck on the passenger side by Carter’s motorcycle. The Mazda driver told officers they did not see the motorcycle before making the turn.
Video evidence and officer observations suggest Carter was traveling at an “extremely high rate of speed” prior to the collision.
Trinity Lane was closed for several hours while MNPD’s Fatal Team investigated the scene. The roadway has since reopened, and no additional details have been released.
