FLORIDA — A woman died after being struck and run over by a vehicle near UF Health on Jacksonville’s Northside early Monday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators said an officer was driving on West 8th Street near Illinois Street when he discovered the woman lying in the roadway. Additional officers and paramedics responded to the scene.
The woman was transported to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead, authorities said.
Investigators determined the woman had been run over by a vehicle. The driver left the scene, and detectives are continuing to work to identify the vehicle involved and gather suspect information.
The incident remains under investigation.
