
MICHIGAN — A 39-year-old man was killed Monday evening after a tree fell on him during severe weather near Cedar Springs, according to the Kent County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said the incident happened around 5 p.m. near the intersection of Tisdale Avenue and 16 Mile Road NE. Authorities reported that a tree fell on the man, causing fatal injuries.
According to investigators, the man was outside with several other people at the time. Officials said he warned others to move just moments before the tree came down.
The sheriff’s office noted that multiple trees were reported down in the surrounding area as strong storms moved through West Michigan.
Severe weather impacted several counties, including Kent, Ottawa, Barry, Calhoun, Eaton and Kalamazoo, with thunderstorm warnings issued throughout the evening. The storms also caused widespread damage, including downed trees and power lines, and left thousands without electricity.
The victim’s identity has not been released. The incident remains under investigation.
