SOUTH CAROLINA — A woman has been arrested in connection with the death of a man at a Spartanburg convenience store, according to police.
Officers were called around 4:50 a.m. Sunday to the Hot Spot Convenience Store on East Henry Street for reports of a disturbance, the Spartanburg Police Department said.
When officers arrived, they found a man lying in the parking lot with injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
Investigators said the victim had been involved in a domestic-related dispute with the driver of the vehicle. Police identified the driver as La’kesha Jeffery Mathis and said she intentionally hit the man with her car.
Mathis was arrested and booked into the Spartanburg County Detention Center.
The investigation remains ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact the Spartanburg Police Department.
