OHIO — A Buckeye Local student has been arrested after posting a threat on Snapchat targeting the district’s junior high and high school, officials say.
According to Buckeye Local School officials, they were alerted to the threat on Sunday after multiple reports from students and parents.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation and quickly identified the student responsible.
Authorities say the student has admitted to creating the Snapchat account and making the threat.
The Jefferson County Prosecutor’s Office will determine what charges, if any, will be filed. The student’s name has not been released.
In response to the threat, school officials announced additional security measures for Monday, including checking students as they enter the school.
The investigation remains ongoing.
