One person arrested following shots fired incident during welfare check in Ohio

OHIO — A man is in custody after deputies say he fired multiple shots during a welfare check Saturday night in Deerfield Township.

According to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched around 9:41 p.m. to the 9700 block of Mason-Montgomery Road for a wellbeing check involving a man reportedly in crisis.

When deputies arrived at the scene, officials said they were met with gunfire coming from a second-floor room. Authorities reported that the suspect fired approximately 12 to 15 shots during the incident.

No injuries were reported.

The suspect was taken into custody shortly after the shooting. Officials said additional details will be released as the investigation continues and the scene is processed.
