OHIO — A man was arrested Friday night following a tense standoff at a campground in Mercer County, according to the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said 51-year-old Bobby L. Mowery was located inside a trailer at the Kozy Kampground. Authorities obtained and executed a search warrant around 7 p.m.

Officials said Mowery refused to exit the trailer despite repeated verbal commands. Due to his alleged history of violence and fleeing law enforcement, Mercer County Sheriff Doug Timmerman requested assistance from the Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team.

Law enforcement deployed tear gas and used a BearCat armored vehicle to enter the trailer. Mowery was found in a back room and taken into custody after being tased.

Investigators said Mowery was wanted in Mercer County on charges including escape, a fourth-degree felony, and failure to comply, a third-degree felony. He also faces several alleged charges in Darke County, including escape, failure to comply, felonious assault, parole violation, possession of drugs, resisting arrest and weapons under disability.

Medics cleared Mowery at the scene before he was transported to the Mercer County Adult Detention Center.

The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office said multiple agencies assisted in the operation, including the Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team, Coldwater EMS, the Grand Lake Drug Task Force and the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Sheriff Timmerman thanked assisting agencies for their help in taking what he described as a dangerous individual into custody.
