LOUISIANA — An Addis man was arrested on multiple drug charges after a traffic stop on Interstate 10 in Lafayette Parish led deputies to seize nearly 9 pounds of illegal narcotics, according to the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities identified the suspect as 31-year-old David Butler of Addis.
Deputies said Butler was stopped on I-10, where investigators detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle he was driving. The odor prompted a probable cause search of the vehicle, officials said.
During the search, deputies reported finding 1,995 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 2,155 grams of methamphetamine tablets, 60 Tapentadol tablets, 11 Xanax tablets, 2.5 grams of marijuana and 24 16-ounce bottles of Promethazine.
Butler was charged with possession with intent to distribute Schedule II controlled substances for crystal methamphetamine, methamphetamine tablets and Tapentadol; possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance for Xanax; possession of a Schedule I controlled substance for marijuana; and possession of a legend drug without a prescription for Promethazine.
Officials said the investigation remains active and ongoing.
