LOUISIANA — A man was arrested on multiple drug-related charges after authorities say a K9 unit discovered large amounts of narcotics inside a vehicle during an investigation in Baldwin.
According to police, the incident began April 22 when officers approached a group at a home near Branch Street Park. One individual in the group was known to have an outstanding warrant.
During the investigation, officers detected the presence of drugs and requested assistance from a K9 unit with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office. The K9 alerted to the vehicle, leading to a search that uncovered 5.6 pounds of marijuana, 1.4 pounds of methamphetamine, 56 grams of synthetic marijuana, 25 MDMA pills, and six grams of crack cocaine. Authorities also reported finding THC vape products, promethazine, and a loaded firearm.
Antoine Jones was arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including possession, possession with intent to distribute, and possession of controlled dangerous substances in a drug-free zone.
Jones was booked into the St. Mary Law Enforcement Center on a $1,002,500 bond.
