
VIRGINIA — A Waynesboro man is facing multiple felony charges following a drug and firearm investigation conducted by the Waynesboro Police Department.
According to police, detectives assigned to interdiction operations observed suspicious activity involving the occupants of two vehicles around 7:45 p.m. Tuesday. Traffic stops were conducted on both vehicles near North Charlotte Avenue.
During searches of the vehicles, detectives recovered suspected cocaine, an undisclosed amount of cash and a firearm.
As a result of the investigation, 27-year-old Steven A. Samano of Waynesboro was arrested and charged with distribution of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm while in possession of certain substances.
Samano is being held without bond at Middle River Regional Jail pending court proceedings.
His next court appearance is scheduled for June 23 at 3 p.m. in Waynesboro General District Court.
All suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
